The Woods We Use
Most of our boards mix domestic hardwoods with a stripe or two of something exotic.
Hard MapleLight, tight-grained and tough. The classic cutting board wood.
Black WalnutRich chocolate brown. Gentle on knife edges.
CherryWarm reddish tone that deepens with age.
AshPale with bold grain lines. Strong and light.
PurpleheartA natural purple, no stain. Our favorite accent stripe.
PadaukBright orange-red that mellows to a deep red-brown.
WengeNearly black. Used for thin pinstripes.
ZebrawoodDramatic dark stripes. Every board is one of a kind.
Spalted BirchNatural dark lines from spalting. Great for coasters.
Make it last a lifetime
Caring for Your Board
- Hand wash only
Warm water and a little soap, then dry it standing on edge. Never the dishwasher, and never let it soak.
- Oil it often
When the wood looks dry or pale, rub in board oil, let it soak in, and wipe off the extra.
- Use both sides
Flip it now and then so it wears evenly. Small knife marks are normal and give it character.
